Thirty Years on This Road
Garden of Hope International did not begin with a strategic plan. It began with a camera, a notebook, and a restless conviction that the people the world overlooks carry within them an extraordinary, untapped potential.
Over thirty years of field research — from China to the United States, from rural communities to urban margins — founder Baibin Yin documented what social systems consistently fail to see: the moment when support ends and the individual is suddenly, without preparation, expected to be fully autonomous.
He named this moment Responsibility Shock. Understanding it — and designing around it — became the founding mission of Garden of Hope International.
